J&S Carpentry and Construction Certified to Comply with New EPA Rule on Renovation, Repair and Painting
Middleton, MA, April 22, 2010 --(PR.com)-- J&S Carpentry and Construction (http://www.js-carpentry.com), a Boston-area contractor that provides professional home remodeling and commercial building services, is pleased to announce that it has been certified to comply with the new EPA Rule on Renovation, Repair and Painting. This measure, started two years ago, went into effect this month and is designed to further protect individuals against lead poisoning.
According to the EPA’s website, “contractors performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities, and schools built before 1978 must be certified and must follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination.”
As of March, only a fraction of the contractors in Massachusetts and across the country are estimated to have completed this required course and exam. And, failure to comply with the new EPA regulations can result in thousand of dollars in fines.
The President of J&S Carpentry and Construction, Jeff Schultz, attended the required class and passed the licensing exam in early March. He stated, “It is my responsibility to ensure that my company meets or exceeds all the regulations pertaining to building and construction, and I pride myself on being one of a small percentage of companies certified in this new EPA rule.” He goes on to state that, “It is critical that my company not only delivers excellent building and renovation services, but also that we are doing so in a manner that is safe and compliant with state and federal regulations.”
