Only Two Weeks to Go Until the 2010 May Festival at Chester Racecourse
With only two weeks to go until the start of the May Festival final preparations are well underway to deliver this prestigious, world class horse racing event, the opener to the 2010 race season at Chester Racecourse.
Chester, United Kingdom, April 23, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Renowned for attracting excellent attendance, in 2010 Chester Racecourse looks set to continue the trend as advance sales for the three day May Festival have been brisk. Chief Executive Richard Thomas said: “The May Festival is our showcase event of the year and a lot of hard work goes into getting everything ready following the end of the season last September. We’ve had incredible advance sales over the last few weeks.”
Pre-sales demand for tickets has led to Boodles Ladies Day on Thursday 6th May already being sold out for County Badges and Tattersals tickets and only limited availability for Boodles City Day on Friday 7th May. Tickets are currently available for all areas on totesport Cup Day on Wednesday 6th.
Marketing and Communications Manager Rob March added: “We’ve just experienced a record week for pre-sales in the Box Office and we’ve still got two weeks before we start racing. Boodles Ladies Day and City Day are sure to sell out in advance. For 2010 we have introduced a series of special food and drink promotions which are proving to be very popular.”
Racegoers returning to the Roodee in May will notice a number of key developments at the course, the most significant being the changes to the Parade Ring in the Paddock area which will enable spectators to feel more involved in the post-racing winner’s celebrations.
Clerk of the course Ed Gretton explained: “We have completed a major development to the Parade Ring, which has been completely re-designed this area which has recently been re-turfed and looks immaculate. The winners’ enclosure has been brought forward to the front of the Paddock which will improve spectators’ viewing of the winner and placed horses after each race. Racegoers will be a lot more involved in this process than previously which we feel will improve the customer experience in the Parade Ring area.”
Prize money for the three-day meeting is in excess of £688,000. On both the Thursday and Friday of the May festival meeting there will be a newly-introduced seventh race on the card. “The additional races will enhance the race programme on those days and provide additional opportunities for owners to run their horses at Chester as well as extending the patrons’ day at the Races” added Gretton.
For 2010 Chester Race Company is running the Catering operation in-house and a series of food and drink promotions will be available throughout the season to provide value offers to racegoers.
An enhanced ‘meet and greet’ service will be highly visible to racegoers walking to the course from the city centre a big information screen will be placed at the top of Watergate Street. Additional information to enhance the raceday experience will provide reminders and assist with organisation of a day at the races.
