The Silver Star Service Banner Recognized by House; Silver Star Service Banner Day Made Official

Today it was announced that the United States House of Representatives has recognized the Silver Star Families of America's Silver Star Service Banner and has proclaimed every May 1st Silver Star Service Banner Day.

Clever, MO, April 23, 2010 --(PR.com)-- H RES 855 was passed out of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on a unanimous vote with 56 co-sponsors on April 15th.

Then on April 21st, in a voice vote the United States House of Representatives made official what has been a tradition for almost 100 years.

Sunshine Roth, National President of the SSFOA stated; “It is rewarding to see that our Service Banner has gotten official recognition. And what is even more wonderful is that May 1st will forever be a day to remember and honor the wounded, ill and injured of our Armed Forces from all wars.”

Roth continued by stating: “With the passage of this resolution, it cannot be disputed that there is only one Silver Star Service Banner.”

Kathy Landess, National Vice President added, “This has been the result of a strong team effort from the grassroots level. We have had 49 states and over 2,700 cities and counties issue proclamations for Silver Star Service Banner Day. And now the 111th Congress has made it official on the national level. It is a special day for our wounded, ill, injured and dying.”
