Motolingo Announces Free Distracted Driver and GPS Monitoring at Fleet Management Association’s 2010 Institute and Expo
Wireless Plans on Mobile Phones Leveraged to Bring Safer Driving to Business Fleets at No Cost.
Detroit, MI, April 26, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Motolingo Inc., a provider of telematics services for mobile phones, announced at the NAFA Fleet Management Association’s Institute and Expo in Detroit that they will offer a free mobile application for detecting distracted driving and monitoring location using GPS on phones. The software was developed to help businesses reduce accident liability, encourage safer driving behavior and enhance workforce productivity.
“While distracted driving is on the rise, it has been difficult for fleets to build the business case for a new driver-safety technology without quantifying the costs,” said Charles Nesser, President of Motolingo Inc. “With MotoRiety GPS, employers can now adopt a monitoring technology at no cost to them that will prevent accidents while gathering data about the risks to help guide future purchasing decisions,” said Nesser.
MotoRiety GPS is the entry-level application from Motolingo that detects Driving While Texting (DWT), phoning and emailing. GPS on-board the phone is used to detect when the phone is moving and is used by the application to determine if a distracted driving incident has occurred. Monitoring results are recorded on the phone and broadcast from a Twitter account. “Twitter is an existing communications platform that we have leveraged to keep the costs down,” says Nesser. “If privacy is a concern, the Twitter account can be setup to limit tweets to those that are approved.”
In addition to distracted driving monitors, the application checks if the vehicle is outside a certain area using a configurable geofence. Fleet managers are notified that the driver is out of range via Twitter and can log into a secure web page to view the current location.
MotoRiety GPS will soon be upgradeable to the full featured MotoRiety Pro product that includes a Bluetooth linked diagnostic device that plugs into all 1996 and newer vehicles in the US. The upgrade provides additional telematics capabilities including vehicle health monitoring, fuel savings feedback and preventive maintenance reminders. “By upgrading, fleet managers can ensure that their vehicle is being maintained properly and operated efficiently,” said Nesser.
