Reliance Big Pictures & Sony Music Unveils the Music of Manikanth Kadri for MS Sathyu's "Ijjodu"

Reliance Big Pictures in partnership with Sony BMG today launched the music of MS Sathyu’s much awaited film “Ijjodu.”

Mumbai, India, April 26, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The launch was attended by the star cast – Meera Jasmine & Aniruddh, director- MS Sathyu, music director-Manikanth Kadri and some of the Kannada Film Industry’s famous stars Sudeep, Nagakiran, Sathya amongst others.

Speaking on the occasion MS Sathyu said, “Music is one of the most important aspects of this film. It creates magic and revolves around the story to enhance the screenplay. Its enchanting and will take you to a different world while experiencing the film.”

Manikanth Kadri, the upcoming & talented music director from the South Indian film industry added, “Music is not an acquired culture, it is an active part of natural life. For me, music is in my genes coming from my father the genius Kadri Gopalanth. I have always strived to be applauded by him and with this film I think I’ve achieved that. It has been an achievement to work with Sathyu Sir. Truly age is not a barrier when it comes to the language of music.”

Ijjodu – The Incompatible - In a remote area in Karnataka (South India), photojournalist Ananda meets Chenni, a woman who was made a 'Basavi'--offered to the village goddess to save the superstitious locals from a devastating epidemic. Basavis, like Devdasis, often end up becoming sex workers. Ananda specializes in photographing ancient monuments and writing about various rituals and customs that have gone unquestioned. Ananda soon gets obsessed by Chenni’s unusual life. In trying to explore more information about her he discovers that she is a victim of blind faith and the story unfolds to changes their lives forever.

M.S. Sathyu – Director, Screenplay Writer & Art Director
Mysore Shrinivas Sathyu (M.S.Sathyu) is a leading film director, stage designer and art director. Recipient of the Padma Shri Award, he is best known for Garam Hawa which won him several awards and recognition. His filmography includes over 15 documentaries and 8 feature films in Hindi, Urdu and Kannada

Anirrudha Jatkar – Lead Actor
Anirrudha is a diploma holder in Interior Designing and Decoration and has attended Film Appreciation Course at FTII Pune. He has principally acted in Kannada films but has also worked in a Tamil and Hindi film. He has done lots of Theatre and has also sung songs as a playback singer in Kannada films.

Meera Jasmine – Lead Actress
Jasmine made her debut in the Malayalam film Soothradharan in 2001. Her first Film Fare award came in 2003 for her performance in Kasthooriman. The same year, she acted in T V Chandran's acclaimed Paadam Onnu: Oru Vilaapam playing a 15 year old who is forced to marry an older man. The film fetched her National Award and several other awards. Her entry into Tamil films made her a well known star in South and it led to her working with top directors. Meera Jasmine has worked in Malyalam, Tamil, Telegu and Kannada films.

Manikanth Kadri – Music Director
Son of legendary saxophone player Gopalnath Kadri, Manikanth Kadri comes from a classical background. Yet Manikanth is today's new-age musician. With his ponytail and modern attire, Manikanth is comfortable scoring music which is deeply rooted in melody for films. He chose not to follow the tradition of playing the sax but to stay in the realm of music and compose for films and albums. He has scored music for Kannada and Malayalam films and a crossover project (Rajshri Ojha's Chaurahen). He made his debut in Telugu films as a composer with Avakkai Biryani.
