Sensei Chris Feldt, owner and chief instructor for Samurai Karate Studio, which is located in Richland Northeast Columbia, SC; participated in Career Day at North Springs Elementary School.
Columbia, SC, April 27, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Sensei Chris Feldt, owner and chief instructor for Samurai Karate Studio, a karate school located in Richland Northeast Columbia, SC; was recently invited to participate in Career Day at North Springs Elementary School.
"I love participating in career day, " stated Feldt, "because the kids are always expecting me to talk about kicking and punching and instead, I like to focus on developing character skills and what it means to be a Black Belt!"
During the first half of his presentation, Feldt likes to talk about the history of the Samurai and explain how the kids have something in common with the Samurai.
"I always ask the kids if they know what they have in common with the Samurai," commented Feldt, "and I usually get the same answers of fighting, kicking, punching." "They are surprised when I tell them the Samurai studied poetry, music, art, math and science, just like them."
Feldt then reminds the kids that if they are to be Real Samurai, they must serve themselves by eating healthy, getting fit and learning to defend themselves, and then they must serve their families, their community and their world.
The second half of the presentation includes show and tell with some of the common weapons that Feldt teaches at his karate school.
"The kids are always fascinated with the weapons and I try to share the history of how each one was developed."
Mr. Feldt provides free presentations to the Richland 2 School District on anti-bullying, stranger danger, self defense, Diabetes awareness, Black Belt principles. He also works with at risk kids at several of the schools.
If you are interested in having Sensei Feldt come to your school, please call him at 803-462-9425 or email him at samuraikarate@bellsouth.net.
Samurai Karate Studio teaches a traditional style of karate to both children and adults, beginning at age 4 years and up.
