Mindgrub Contracted by Williams Whittle Digital to Develop "Slapstick" for Washington Capitals

Baltimore, MD, April 28, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Mindgrub Technologies, a technology innovation agency, was contracted by Williams Whittle Digital in early 2010 to develop the online fan application Slapstick for the National Hockey League team the Washington Capitals. Mindgrub developed the application through the use of Flash/Flex for a rich end user experience and Drupal for backend content management.

Capitals fans can upload a photo themselves to the Slapstick application and select from three scenarios: a ranting player, coaching the team and answering questions from the media. Fans can then personalize their rant by choosing from various facial hair options, hats and head gear as well as their choice of home or away jersey. Fans can then share rants through email and social media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter. Slapstick has a standardized voice that is free but it also has the option for the fans to upload their own voice and words for an additional $.99.

The Slapstick application was launched in mid April during the 2010 playoff season and can be view on the Washington Capitals website or at washingtoncaps.com/slapstick. This application is the first of its kind in professional sports and it hopes to attract not only other NHL franchises, but different sports leagues such as NASCAR and the NCAA.
