Thirteen years ago Klein became disabled by reflex sympathetic dystrophy, requiring her to use crutches for ambulation, which for her was a crisis, but she turned all of the difficulties into opportunities. In search of a cure, she attended many schools of healing and studied several modalities, including physiognomy (Chinese medicine face reading), Neuro-Emotional Technique (NET), Interactive Guided Imagery (IGI), Nervous System Energy Work (NSEW), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Korean hand therapy, energy psychology, applied behavior analysis, sensory integration, and homeopathy. Turning challenge into opportunity, Klein never let her crutches keep her from any activity, including athletics such as running and mountain climbing. Her goal is to be able to play basketball again walk without crutches.
