Film "51%" Focuses on Equal Rights Issues for Pakistani Women
Set to Release in September, Film is First in 2010 for S&S Films International and First Female CEO Saman Hasnain
Los Angeles, CA, April 28, 2010 --(PR.com)-- “51%”, a film about women’s rights and the lifestyle of Pakistani women, will release worldwide in September 2010. The film’s name is derived from the ratio of women to men in Pakistan and is produced by S&S Films International, headed by Saman Hasnain.
The film depicts the struggles women still have in the Muslim world even though, by virtue of their population advantage, they are the predominant gender of the country. The film is produced in conjunction with WIN Pakistan, a foundation dedicated and committed to educating, inspiring and empowering women in all walks of life, especially those women tormented by the pain of abuse or in need of purpose within their lives. WIN Pakistan works in association with WIN Foundation, an international organization created by Dr. Tracy Kemble and endorsed by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
"The film ‘51%’ is a dream project for me as it creates awareness to women’s rights issues and also calls attention to the misperceptions in the world about Pakistani women,” says Hasnain, 2008 Mrs. Pakistan World and President of WIN Pakistan. “I believe when you heal a woman, you heal a family. And when you heal a family, you heal a nation.”
The film is directed by award-winning director Sean Ali, also CEO of S&S Films International along with Hasnain. Hollywood director John Jay also was a co-director of this first film by S&S. The film was shot in Pakistan, India, U.S., and Dubai. “51%” is already generating worldwide buzz and is hoping to do for Pakistan, and women’s rights in Pakistan, what “Slumdog Millionaire” did for the plight of the impoverished youth of India. Distribution of the film is already secured in North America, Pakistan, India, Dubai and the United Kingdom.
Hasnain and Ali’s movie credits also include several more films slated for a 2010 release: “Crossing Borderlines”, the story of Afghan refugees in Pakistan; and “Blind with Vision”, about hardworking blind people of Pakistan; “The Cotton Pickin’ Truth About Slavery” and “RUSH – Today’s Youth and Drugs” directed by John Jay.
Currently, Saman Hasnain resides in San Jose, California and is available for interviews. For more information visit: www.winpakistan.net or WIN PAKISTAN on Facebook.com.
