Saint Joseph East Celebrates Grand Opening of Women's Hospital During 11th Annual Maternity Fair
Lineup includes tours of the exclusive new facility, innovative workshops, baby experts, local merchants, entertainment and the "Diaper Derby."
Lexington, KY, May 01, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Saint Joseph East will celebrate the grand opening of its new Women’s Hospital during the 11th Annual Maternity Fair, Saturday, May 8. Festivities will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12 Noon on the Saint Joseph East campus, in front of The Women’s Hospital (170 N. Eagle Creek Drive, off Richmond Road).
Held every Mother’s Day weekend, this is Lexington’s largest maternity event and celebrates parents-to-be and those interested in having a baby by offering the best in education and health awareness among women before, during and after pregnancy. Highlights will include tours of the new Women’s Hospital, innovative workshops and lectures from experts on pregnancy/baby topics, local merchants with exciting displays and products, and a host of prize giveaways. The grand prize includes free delivery of an attendee’s baby at The Women’s Hospital at Saint Joseph East.
Returning to the fair this year is the exciting “Diaper Derby.” Babies enrolled in the contest will line up to see who has the fastest crawl in town for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card and a trophy.
The Women’s Hospital at Saint Joseph East officially opened March 29. Advanced technology, such as a new tagging system for newborn security, and special touches, such as a “golden hour” for bonding between parents and baby immediately following birth, are what make this new facility unique.
The Women’s Hospital will accommodate the enormous maternity growth that Saint Joseph East has experienced during recent years. Space is even available next door for future expansion if this goal is surpassed.
“We’re excited to finally invite the whole community inside to tour our new exclusive women’s facility. We are very proud of our family-oriented approach to care for both mom and baby,” said Denise Hundley, Administrator of Women’s Services at Saint Joseph East. “Our annual Maternity Fair is a perfect time to introduce what we offer to women who are pregnant or are considering having a baby in the future.”
The 60,000-square-foot, three-floor facility houses labor/delivery/recovery rooms, neonatal intensive care, a large nursery and all other aspects of maternity care. “Hospitalist” obstetricians remain on site 24/7 in addition to the doctors coming in for patient deliveries.
The Women’s Hospital features patient- and family-centered design and amenities including: fathers-only lounge area, spacious play area for siblings, flexible family visitation hours, education center, gift shop, coffee shop, free Wi-Fi, abundant natural light, healing colors, Tempur-Pedic mattresses, a freestanding spa tub, hand-knitted baby caps and original artwork by Kentucky artists. The front of the building features an abstract 30-foot aluminum sculpture that represents a mother and baby.
In addition to maternity services, more comprehensive health services for women of all ages will soon be added to the first floor offering a one-stop shop for women to receive their health care. To learn more, visit www.SaintJosephEastKy.org.
