Virto Incoming Email Service 2.0: New Features for Effective Processing Emails in Microsoft SharePoint
San Francisco, CA, May 05, 2010 --(PR.com)-- VirtoSoftware announces the new release of simple and effective service for Microsoft SharePoint 2007 and 2010 for routing incoming emails. The new version allows for handling emails from both POP3 and IMAP servers.
Microsoft SharePoint enables incoming email routing. SharePoint default email service collects messages from specified email addresses and put the information from the messages into a predefined SharePoint list. The service is often used for organizing some help desk or customer support services, where processing incoming mail usually serves as the first step in the workflow scheme.
The default SharePoint service has some shortcomings that restrict its usefulness, and applicability. First, it allows collecting email messages from SMTP servers only while POP3 servers are not supported. Second, it does not allow for collecting emails from more than one mail server or domain. Third, the service supports only default SharePoint list types and cannot put email information to a list of a custom type. Finally, the deployment and setting up procedures are not that quick and simple. Together, these shortcomings can prevent SharePoint users from organizing effective enough email processing scheme and, thus, high quality workflow or support service.
Virtosoftware (http://www.virtosoftware.com) offers an alternative solution that on the one hand is much simpler in deployment and usage, and on the other hand provides SharePoint users with additional features that fix the shortcomings of the default SharePoint email service. In addition to all the features available when using the default service the Virto Incoming Email Service 2.0 allows for collecting mail from both POP3 and IMAP servers, collecting mail from multiple email servers and domains and enables gathering information from emails in SharePoint lists of any type including custom ones. This makes the Virto Service 2.0 one of the simplest and at the same time powerful tool for processing emails from POP3 and IMAP servers.
Virtosoftware have also presented detailed instructions on using the main new feature of the release - handling emails from IMAP servers, that was not available in the first version of the service released in November 2009. The instructions are available at http://www.virtosoftware.com.
