14 & 15 May 2010 - The Caritats festival is an extravaganza, taking the whole town back to the days of knights and troubadours. There is a market with wine and local produce, a medieval pageant, parades, historical spectacles, traditional games, jousting, educational presentations, a medieval banquet, craft shows, etc.

The Programme
Friday 14 May
The Caritats opening ceremony will take place just before lunch, with a procession in medieval costumes through the old streets of Béziers.
Just after lunch, the children’s and craftsmen’s villages will open, along with the military camp.
You can enjoy the jousting all afternoon in the tiltyard on the Place Jean Jaurès.
In the evening, the ‘OC’ group, “Via Humana,” will be putting on a show in the Place de la Madeleine.
Saturday 15 May
In the morning, there will be jousting in the tiltyard and the children’s and craftsmen’s villages will be open, along with the military camp.
All these events carry on right through the afternoon.
Early in the evening, there will be a procession to the Place de la Madeleine, followed by Occitan dancing.
Then, in the evening, you can sample the delights of a medieval banquet in the cloisters of Saint Nazaire Cathedral.
On both days, you can also visit the medieval craft market and the local wine and produce market in the Allées Paul Riquet.
