Zombie Comedy Signs Award Winning Composer
First Earth Films and Laughing Jack Entertainment have signed award winning composer Bart Samolis to produce the original score for First Platoon, a post-apocalyptic zombie comedy being shot this summer in Albuquerque.
Las Vegas, NV, May 05, 2010 --(PR.com)-- First Earth Films and Laughing Jack Entertainment, both of Las Vegas NV, team up this summer to produce First Platoon, a post apocalyptic zombie comedy written and directed by Chris Gabriel, and starring Malcolm McDowell, Sid Haig, Arron Shiver (3:10 to Yuma, The Book of Eli, The Men Who Stare at Goats), newcomer Jennifer Skyler and John Kassir (Reefer Madness – The Musical, Race to Witch Mountain). In talks now for the lead, First Earth has signed award winning composer Bart Samolis of Los Angeles to produce the original score.
Samolis has worked in the Hollywood music industry for years as a musician, composer, producer and arranger, and brings a unique and exciting voice to the First Platoon project.
“I have had the privilege of hearing and studying the styles of many of the top composers in Hollywood. My opportunities as a composer have allowed me to incorporate all these influences and develop my own unique blend of sounds and style… My music has been heard in film and TV as well as at the Kennedy Center honoring special women, including Hilary Clinton. This year I had the honor of winning an award for one of my compositions from JPF, the largest independent music awards in the country.”
Samolis is an accomplished bassist as well as an award winning composer, having performed on hits such as Mad Men, Into the Wild, Rise of the Silver Surfer, Dreamgirls, Quantum of Solace and many more. Bart has also performed and recorded with a wide variety of contemporary music acts including Rod Stewart, Michael Bolton, The All American Rejects, Lori Andrews, Jon Secada, The Fifth Dimension, and Barry Manilow. For the past 14 years, he has been musical director for the Academy Awards Sci-Tech division.
As a composer Samolis has a string of credits as well, including the hit series Gilmore Girls, The Gunrunner Billy Kane (in production) The Harsh Life of Veronica Lambert (additional music), Ruby (additional music), and will be producing an original score for another first Earth Film, Raggedy Anne, in pre-production now.
Filming in Albuquerque New Mexico this spring and summer, “First Platoon” is slated for release in 2011.
