MedPro Rx, Inc. Named Sponsor for Hemophilia of North Carolina Annual Meeting
Raleigh, NC, May 06, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Nancy McFarlane, president of MedPro Rx, Inc. (www.medprorx.com), a provider of specialty pharmacy services to clients with chronic illnesses who need clotting factor, IVIg and other medication, has announced that the pharmacy is a sponsor for Hemophilia of North Carolina’s annual meeting, to be held on Saturday, May 22 at the Sheraton Charlotte Airport Hotel in Charlotte, N.C. This full day event will include a wide variety of programs for the adults and fun activities for the children. This year the focus is on being prepared for the unexpected and planning for emergencies. Expert speakers will provide information about current programs and resources that are available, with onsite sign ups for MedicAlert. Attendees will also take a look at current research and products that are in the pipeline and expected soon for the bleeding disorders community.
Approximately one in every 5,000 males nationwide is born with hemophilia, affecting all racial and socioeconomic groups equally. People with hemophilia experience bleeding following an injury and may have frequent spontaneous bleeding episodes, often into the joints and muscles. More traumatic injuries may result in serious problems and potential disability. The three most common types of hemophilia are Hemophilia A or Factor VIII Deficiency, Hemophilia B or Factor IX Deficiency, and von Willebrand Disease (vWD). vWD is caused by a deficiency or defect of a clotting protein, and it affects approximately 1-2 percent of the United States population. Unlike hemophilia, vWD occurs equally among males and females and is more likely to cause nosebleeds and bleeding under the skin than into the joints.
Quotes:
“The HNC annual meeting is always a great opportunity to meet the experts, network with other families, and learn about the latest products available,” said McFarlane. “We are honored to sponsor an event that benefits our hemophilia community here in North Carolina.”
Details:
- The event’s keynote address is: “Preparing for Disaster: Learning from the Lessons of Hurricane Katrina,” by Tres Major, president of the Louisiana Hemophilia Foundation.
