PR Pro Daniel Kennedy Named to Board of Global Medical Relief Fund
Global Medical Relief Fund, the New York-based org. that aids amputee children from around the world, names international PR pro Daniel Kennedy of New York City to its advisory board.
New York, NY, May 05, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Global Medical Relief Fund (GMRF) today named award-wining public relations professional Daniel Kennedy of New York City to its advisory board. “Daniel Kennedy has strong international public relations expertise and a clear understanding of our socially conscious mission,” said Elissa Montanti, GMRF’s founder and executive director, who made the announcement. “It will be an honor and an asset to have Daniel Kennedy on our advisory board.”
The non-profit, non-partisan Global Medical Relief Fund aids children who are missing or have lost the use of limbs, have been severely burned, or have been injured due to war, natural disaster or illness. Since its founding in 1997, GMRF has brought 90 children to the U.S. from Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia for treatment, surgery and prosthetic limb fittings. GMRF is currently assisting children in Haiti who were victims of the recent earthquake. GMRF’s first project in 1997 aided a triple amputee child from Bosnia, who became a land mine victim while playing soccer there.
Daniel Kennedy first met Ms. Montanti in 1997, when he was the U.S. PR advisor to Austrian Airlines, which provided air travel for children being aided by GMRF. Since then, he has volunteered to assist on GMRF projects and programs. “I look forward to helping promote awareness of the vital service work being performed every day by the Global Medical Relief Fund and its partners,” Mr. Kennedy said. “What higher mission is there than aiding innocent, victimized children?”
In addition to 20 years of serving business, travel, design and branding clients, Daniel Kennedy has accomplished international, award-wining publicity results to call attention to war-exiled Bosnian refugee textile artisans. His PR consultancy also created and launched the award-wining socially conscious brand trademark AfghanMark to benefit thousands of Afghan women carpet makers. Under the business name “Daniel Kennedy Communications Services,” the scope of Mr. Kennedy’s PR, media relations and marketing communications work has included clients and projects in New York, New England, the Midwest, England, Austria, Romania, The Vatican, Latvia and Afghanistan.
Daniel Kennedy was previously director of media relations for Simon & Schuster publishing, Vice President - Marketing Communications for Ruder Finn Public Relations and a Senior Communications Project Manager for JCPenney. He holds a B.A. Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.Ed. Degree from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
