Visions In Education Announces New Online Pilot Program Launched Fall 2010
Visions In Education Charter School announces a new online pilot program to be launched fall 2010 for 9th grade students.
Sacramento, CA, May 07, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Visions In Education Charter School is pleased to announce Visions EDGE, a new online pilot program to be launched fall 2010 and open to 100 9th grade students. The program is a hybrid program where students are part of a learning community that learns and interacts both online and in face-to-face meetings. In addition to quality content, student-teacher relationships, and student-to-student relationships are emphasized. Success is further promoted through teacher mentorship, group facilitation, and virtual collaboration.
The “EDGE” in Visions EDGE stands for Educating Differently in a Global Environment. The program grew out of a belief that quality education should adapt to embrace the constantly changing world around us. Christina McKinnis, Curriculum Mentor and co-founder of the Visions EDGE, explained, “Our vision statement (at Visions In Education) is ‘Preparing each student to succeed in a rapidly changing world’ This rapidly changing world includes technology. We wanted to design a program where students are not only using technology to learn, but also developing skills that will extend beyond their high school experience.”
Students and parents interested in learning more about the online pilot program are encouraged to learn more about the Visions Edge at Visions In Education Charter School's website . Families should be aware of a few key requirements: students must be in 9th grade in fall 2010, have reliable and readily available high-speed Internet access, and have reliable transportation to attend group activities that include field trips, support classes, and field days.
The aim of Visions EDGE is to build a core of students who will be the new Class of 2014. “EDGE students,” Mckinnis said, “will work collaboratively with our standards-aligned curriculum to create final projects that will be shared with the educational community. Once learning has purpose and meaning, it becomes fun and engaging.”
Visions In Education is an accredited K-12 Charter School that offers a tuition-free public education, which enables students to learn with an educational program that fits their schedules and their individual learning styles.
Visions In Education offers two unique programs to meet the individual needs of its students: a K-12 Home School Academy, and a 9-12 Independent Study Academy. Visions In Education serves Amador, Contra Costa, El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Solano, Sutter, and Yolo counties.
Visions’ credentialed teachers meet with their students in their homes or anywhere in the nine counties they serve, and they personalize each student’s educational plan to help them graduate and succeed, as they have accomplished for thousands of other Visions In Education students.
