New York, NY, May 07, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Basonas Construction Corp has begun the facade restoration of another landmark building, the Beekman Tower Hotel situated one block north of the New York headquarters of the United Nations. The work consist of replication of decorative cast concrete, face brick replacement, structural steel reinforcement, masonry pointing. The elevations/facades will be inspected and work assigned under the guidance of Israel Berger Associated, LLC. The Construction manager is Ali Mohamedi, PE, AIA, LEEP AP of the Carlyle Development Services, LLC.
Frame staging was assembled in March with the south and west side being worked on first. The north and the east side are scheduled for completion by early fall 2010. The first significant hurdle of Landmark approval of the replacement brick, pointing mortar, and cast stone replacement has been successfully accomplished. This process involved using both the best available material and the highly skill craftsmen in the making of sample installations. All repairs have to be approved by the Landmark Committee representative after careful overview and consideration by IBA.

This Building is considered a major building by the DOB and falls under the Site Safety regulations by the B.E.S.T. Squad. There is a full time site safety manager at the site at all times when work takes place. The firm hired by the owners for the full time site safety management is Site Safety, LLC. With Basonas Construction Corp extensive experience on both large and small projects, quality work and safety have been the company’s top priorities since its inception twenty years ago.
The Beekman Tower Hotel is a 26-story, brown masonry-clad Art Deco tower with rounded corners to the top. The tower is well known for its dramatic volumetric massing and bold vertical striping created by deeply recessed window and spandrel bays set between narrow piers which rise unbroken from a two-story base to a parapet crown. It was designated a landmark status in 1998.
