Steelhenge Announces Successful Completion of Business Continuity Project for Leading UK NHS Primary Care Trust
Steelhenge has recently completed the implementation of a business continuity programme for a leading Primary Care Trust as part of the UK's National Health Service initiative to improve organisational resilience for care services
Salisbury, United Kingdom, May 09, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Steelhenge Consulting, a leading provider of business continuity and crisis management services, has announced the successful completion of a business continuity project for a leading NHS Primary Care Trust in the UK. The project involved implementation of a complete business continuity framework designed to improve the organisational resilience of the hospitals and associated services in order to ensure frontline care of patients can be maintained and recovered in the event of a disruption. "The business continuity project took a year to complete," said Isobel Nicholas, Director of Marketing and Communications for Steelhenge. "It incorporated the full business continuity life cycle, from writing the BCM policy, conducting a business impact analysis and risk assessments to the development of business continuity plans and the training of staff. It was an interesting project from a business continuity viewpoint, as the drivers for front line staff in the NHS differ to those in a commercial setting. For a commercial enterprise, business continuity is all about protecting services that directly contribute to revenue generation," Isobel explained. "For NHS staff, business continuity at the sharp end is all about front line care of people, so the priorities are really quite different." When asked if that difference altered the delivery of the project, Isobel replied; "Absolutely. It meant that our team had to ensure the language of business continuity was reframed in a way that was made meaningful for staff whose roles are completely different to those in the business world."
The business continuity project carried out for the PCT supports the NHS Resilience Project; a nationwide initiative designed to increase the organisational resilience of the NHS via the implementation of BS NHS25999, a version of the British Standard for Business Continuity Management (BCM) BS25999. "We are delighted with the feedback we've received from the PCT," Isobel added. "Comments were made about the absolute professionalism and commitment of our business continuity consultants to delivering the objectives of the project; they were also commended on their tailored and flexible approach to meeting the needs of the PCT. It was a very rewarding and satisfying project for all involved," Isobel concluded.
