New Newsletter on Magazine Publishing: STRAT

Newsweek sale, productivity of online advertising, and perils of intermixing advertising and editorial interests featured in inaugural issue of new newsletter.

New Britain, CT, May 09, 2010 --(PR.com)-- When the Washington Post announced its intended sale of Newsweek, STRAT, a brand new publication covering print and online publishing strategy, offered a flash analysis: Is the magazine really worth anything? It also revealed interest on the part of a group of Russian investors with experience in publishing. (Newsweek actually has a Russian edition, which is operated by licensee Axel Springer with uncertain financial results.)

In its first issue, STRAT also delves into why magazine publishers aren't seeing more online advertising revenue. The use of poor advertising practices that produce weak results for advertisers is identified as a key problem.

A separate article examines the perils a publisher can experience when editorial integrity is compromised for a quick advertising deal.

Each month, the STRAT newsletter will focus on various issues of interest to magazine publishers, including print and online advertising, digital editions, technology, publishing strategy, publishing industry news items, and other topics.
