NYC arts nonprofit organization, Art For Progress, will host this film and music event to raise awareness and funding for the AFP Arts and Humanities Education Initiative. The event will take place on Saturday, May 22nd at Project One in San Francisco, 8pm-2am.

New York, NY, May 09, 2010 --(PR.com)-- NYC nonprofit 501(c)3 arts organization, Art For Progress (AFP, www.artforprogress.org) will present its sixth edition of “Shorts and Beats,” an interactive evening of short films and DJ sets. Held at Project One (http://www.p1sf.com/) in San Francisco on Saturday, May 22nd, 8pm-2am, the event will bring together talented filmmakers and DJ’s from both coasts. Proceeds from the evening will go to AFP’s arts education program.

With films curated by Daniel Maldonado of Gashouse Films, recent winner in the New York Latino Film Festival, the night will provide a platform for guests to view innovative, compelling short cinema. Between films and afterwards, DJ’s will spin their magic into the morning hours. Representing the east coast, DJ’s Gatto (AFP) and Sal Leone (Rooftop Sessions) will spin, along with San Francisco DJ’s Chad Clubb (Midnight Soul) and Layne Loomis (Deep End). Diageo will also be providing drink specials throughout the night. Previously held in NYC, it has received support and rave reviews from attendees who enjoy viewing films they otherwise would never have the opportunity to see.

“For those of us looking to experience something different, Shorts and Beats provides the perfect venue for hearing great DJ’s and seeing great film all in one place, and it’s for a good cause as well!" -Jean Dickinson
