63% of Holidaymakers Looking to Visit a New Destination in 2010

2010 showing signs of increased foreign travel amongst holiday makers

London, United Kingdom, May 12, 2010 --(PR.com)-- This summer the holiday trend seems to veer towards travelling to new destinations, according to the findings of a recent poll. In the poll conducted by roomsnet.com 63% said they would be looking to travel to a new destination this year, as opposed to a regular holiday destination.

For most of last year holiday makers suffering from the global economic slump opted for closer to home holiday options, which worked better for tighter budgets.

However this year, the trend is once again moving towards holidaymakers venturing out of their comfort zone and to new destinations. While all of the 587 members who took part in the survey had made vacation plans, 24% of the respondents opted to travel to their tried and tested holiday destinations.

The poll was conducted amongst the roomsnet.com member base consisting of seasoned travellers and veteran holiday bookers. This base is an ideal sounding board from which to gather an idea of the latest travel trends, as these members represent genuine travellers.

With the upcoming summer holidays it is the opportune time for holiday providers to take notice of the trend and cater to the holiday makers’ need for something new and gear their marketing in that direction.
