Colorado Springs Saddles Up for Ride Your Horse to Work Week

To kick-off the first annual Pikes Peak Western Heritage Days, Colorado Springs and surrounding region VIPs saddled up for Ride Your Horse to Work week.

Colorado Springs, CO, May 12, 2010 --(PR.com)-- As a fun and light-hearted kick-off to the first annual Pikes Peak Western Heritage Days, Monday, May 10, 2010 has been designated as the start of Ride Your Horse to Work Week in Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region. Colorado Springs Vice Mayor Larry Small, El Paso County Commissioner Chair Dennis Hisey and other area VIPs gathered at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, mounted horses provided by M Lazy C Ranch and Academy Riding Stables, and rode horseback to City Hall. Upon arrival, the Vice Mayor galloped up the steps and made an official proclamation that the week is officially Ride Your Horse to Work Week in conjunction with National Tourism Week, which is sponsored by the United States Tourism Association (USTA).

This May through August, residents and visitors can saddle up and celebrate the cowboy, gold mining, geological and American Indian heritage of this unique western region. A full calendar of events and activities for the first annual Pikes Peak Western Heritage Days can be found at www.VisitCOS.com/western. Also on this site, travelers can find Savings with an Altitude - great deals on area lodging, dining, activities and attractions.

There’s no better time and place than the summer of 2010 in the Pikes Peak region to “Tie One On” (a bandana, that is), and that’s no bull.
