Riverside, CA, May 12, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Vincent J. Pascarella, Esq., SPHR, and Darin L. Mackender, Esq., will be co-presenting at the 2010 Colorado Employment Law Conference at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Denver, Colorado on May 27, 2010. The presentation titled, “Employment Background Screening: An Employer’s Legal Obligations under Federal and State Law,” will begin at 11:10 am and discuss how employers and employment screening programs have come under increased scrutiny from government enforcement agencies and the plaintiff’s bar and the importance of having legally compliant and up-to-date employment screening policies in place. Recent and proposed regulations and legislation affecting an employer’s background screening policies, and recent lawsuits and settlements, will also be discussed.
The two-day conference opens on May 26, 2010 and features two tracks of breakout sessions, one focusing on in-house counsel and human resources issues and the other focusing on litigation matters. The event is co-sponsored by the Colorado Bar Association Labor and Employment Law Section.

He was also a two-term co-chair of the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS) Best Practices & Compliance Committee where he recruited and led a group of legal compliance and operations experts in developing a series of industry white papers, and creating the skeleton upon which the NAPBS Ethics & Accreditation Committee has built the Background Screening Agency Accreditation Program (BSAAP). Vince is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and Webinars, and is considered an expert on state and federal consumer reporting law, including the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
