Entertainment Marketing Executive Builds a Winning T.E.A.M. with New Inner-City School Program
T.E.A.M., (Tomorrow’s Entertainment & Athletics Marketers) was created to offer at-risk high school students the opportunity to develop business skills that can serve them well in a possible future career in the sports & entertainment marketing business by taking actual industry marketing campaigns and allowing the students to learn concepts and techniques via hands-on experience.
Redondo Beach, CA, May 12, 2010 --(PR.com)-- LONGBOARD Marketing founder Randy Rovegno is a man on a mission. Growing up in a family where non-profit work was part of his everyday life, he now finds himself at the forefront of a new inner-city school program he created called T.E.A.M., (Tomorrow’s Entertainment & Athletics Marketers). Its goal: to offer at-risk high school students the opportunity to develop business skills that can serve them well in a possible future career in the sports & entertainment marketing business. By taking actual industry marketing campaigns and allowing the students to learn concepts and techniques via hands-on experience, Rovegno hopes to provide guidance as well as motivate students to excel in a career they are passionate about.
During the day, the 17-year industry veteran finds himself at the helm of a thriving marketing agency in Southern California and while he has developed award winning campaigns for the likes of FOX Sports, the NFL, NHL, NASCAR, Disney, and more, he sees T.E.A.M. as an opportunity to really make a difference in the education of today’s high school students. “We’ve been fortunate enough to work on everything from Super Bowl events to television show premieres and being able to take some of these dynamic marketing projects and allowing the students to engage and learn from actual case studies is an amazing and powerful opportunity,” said T.E.A.M.‘s founder, Randy Rovegno.
The first school to take part in the T.E.A.M. initiative is Thomas Jefferson High School in South Los Angeles. Once known as one of the most troubled schools in the nation, Rovegno was introduced to the administration there through Jefferson’s after school program coordinator Jamie Gardner. “As soon as the T.E.A.M. concept was presented, we knew we had a unique program that provided kids with an opportunity to become involved, plan for their future, and use their interests as motivation,” Gardner said. “Everyone from the students to the faculty to the principal is excited to be part of this and we hope to use it as a model for other schools throughout Los Angeles to get involved.”
