David J. Fernandez Joins Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP
Expands Firm’s New York Corporate Practice
New York, NY, May 13, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP is proud to announce that David J. Fernandez has joined the firm as partner, effective today. Mr. Fernandez will work from the Wall Street office and continue his practice in banking and structured finance.

Admitted in New York, the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, and The United States District Court for the Northern District of New York, Mr. Fernandez is an active member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers; the New York State Bar Association; and the Albany Law School of Union University National Alumni Council. In 2009, Mr. Fernandez was recognized as an Empire State Counsel by the New York State Bar Association in recognition for his commitment to pro bono work. In 2008 and 2009, David was named a New York Metro Area Super Lawyer and in 2008 he was named a National Corporate Counsel SuperLawyer as well.
Mr. Fernandez often serves as counsel to the underwriter, counsel to the placement agent and trustee counsel in connection with a wide variety of tax-exempt and taxable bond offerings. These offerings have included 501(c)(3) bonds, housing bonds, transportation bonds, hospital and other health care revenue bonds, civic facility revenue bonds, industrial development revenue bonds, water and sewer bonds, lease revenue bonds and tobacco securitizations. He has served as a Senior Assistant General Counsel for the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York, annually one of the nation’s leading issuers of tax-exempt debt. David has also served as bond counsel for a wide variety of issuers, including, the New York City Municipal Water Finance Authority, New York City Housing Development Corporation and New York State Housing Finance Authority.
Mr. Fernandez has presented on a vast array of topics; his most recent including “Document Changes We Would Like to See,” panelist, ABA Capital Market Forum for Corporate Trust Professionals, Tampa, Florida, April, 2009 and “Corporate Trust Concerns” panelist, Bond Attorney’s Workshop, National Association of Bond Lawyers, Chicago, September, 2008 and in Phoenix in September, 2009. Prior to joining Carter, Ledyard & Milburn, Mr. Fernandez was Partner, Finance and Restructuring group at Dorsey & Whitney LLP. Mr. Fernandez earned his A.B. in Economics from Colgate University in 1988, and his J.D. in 1992 from Albany Law School of Union University.
