American College of Radiology Accreditation Received by Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center at Milford Regional Medical Center

Milford, MA, May 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center (DF/BWCC) at Milford Regional Medical Center (MRMC) has received a three-year term of accreditation for radiation oncology services from the American College of Radiology (ACR). The center was accredited after being surveyed by the ACR Commission on Quality and Safety.

In 2008 DF/BWCC and MRMC came together to establish a collaborative ambulatory oncology service at MRMC. The center is an integrated cancer treatment facility that provides advanced, comprehensive cancer services, including diagnostic imaging, medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgical services, second opinion clinic, participation in research protocols, genetic counseling, and survivorship services.

“The goal of the DF/BWCC and MRMC partnership was to provide a premier Cancer Center for the residents of Milford and surrounding communities, so that patients and their families could be assured they would be receiving the best possible oncology care, without having to travel long distances,” said Tatiana Lingos, MD, Chief of Radiation Oncology and Director of Network Development for Longwood Radiation Oncology Group at BWH. “Since our opening, we have been working tirelessly to achieve this. Accreditation by the ACR confirms that we have laid the proper foundation for quality of care and patient safety. We will continue to build upon this, assuring that new technologies and innovative treatments given in the most meticulous and caring manner will continue to be available to all.”

The ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic and interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, and nuclear medicine and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
