Pietzo Joins Forces with North Shore Tour de Cure Offers Hybrid Electric Bicycle Fleet to Enable More Riders to Go the Distance
Bedford, MA, May 16, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Pietzo, a hybrid electric bicycle company in Bedford, MA, is offering free use of its electric bicycles to support the North Shore Tour de Cure in Gloucester, MA on May 22, enabling more participants to ride. For riders who are concerned about their ability to complete the route because of their diabetes or other health concerns, reserving an electric bike for the day can make the ride possible. The Pietzo eco-friendly, electric-assisted bikes give riders the choice to pedal in battery-powered mode for help up hills or going longer distances, or they can be pedaled as a conventional bicycle.
North Shore Tour de Cure, in its 16th year, is a day-long celebration expected to draw roughly 700 cyclists on the mouth of Gloucester Harbor to ride through up to 15 different towns. Riders have the option of 8, 15, 31, 62 or 100 mile routes and are fully supported by rest stops and support vehicles along the way. Last year, this event raised more than $285,000 to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
According to Pamela Schmuhl, Event Manager for the North Shore Tour de Cure, “Based on rider feedback, we have added a shorter 8 mile route this year to allow more people to participate in this fun event. Now with the Pietzo electric bikes, we can offer a way to pull in more riders who otherwise wouldn’t go, because they weren’t confident they could complete their ride.”
