MEGAJOULE Prepares for Global Wind Day 2010 in Brasil
MEGAJOULE is planning an event for the Global Wind Day on June 15 in the harbour of Fortaleza, Brasil in cooperation with MEGAJOULE’s partner Braselco, Martifer Renovaveis, All about Events and the Brazilian Wind Power Association ABEEOLICA.
Porto, Portugal, May 19, 2010 --(PR.com)-- MEGAJOULE is going to take part in the Global Wind Day 2010 organized by the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) and the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC). The Global Wind Day is an awareness campaign for the promotion of wind energy worldwide. The messages are clear: wind energy tackles climate change, it boosts energy independence and it is an intelligent investment. Wind events for both the public and the media to come and find out more about wind energy are being held around the world on this day.
MEGAJOULE is organising an event in Brasil, Fortaleza, the city of MEGAJOULE do Brasil’s office. The event is organized in cooperation with MEGAJOULE’s Brazilian partner Braselco, All about Events, Martifer Renovaveis and is supported by ABEEOLICA the Brazilian Wind Power Association.
The event will take place on June 15 from 3-5 pm at the wind farm close to the city harbour of Fortaleza. Children from a local school will be invited to an afternoon of recreation and education under the wind turbines, including kites and pinwheels workshops. In the afternoon at 4 pm a ceremony and networking event will take place with Governor of Ceara Cid Gomes and Senator Inacio Arruda as well as other politicians, business men and media representatives.
“This is great,” said Ana Pires Director of MEGAJOULE do Brasil. “Ceara as the Brazilian centre of renewables is the perfect place for our event. Our main focus on that day will be on the families and children who live around the wind park in Fortaleza. We are looking forward to explaining to them everything about wind and there will be many great activities for children to experience the wind.”
Last year over 300 Global Wind Day events were held in 35 countries from China to Canada via the Czech Republic. From wind farm open days, conferences, exhibitions, workshops and information days to regattas, sporting contests and theatre shows, there was something for everyone, everywhere.
“2010 will be even bigger,” said Christian Kjaer Chief Executive of EWEA. “Wind Day has grown in popularity since its launch in 2007 because wind power itself is breaking all records. In Europe more wind power was installed in the last two years than any other energy-generating technology. There is spectacular growth in China, US and elsewhere. It's a global success story."
Other countries and organizations have also communicated their participation in the Global Wind Day 2010. For example, in the spectacular setting of the Villa Borghese in central Rome there will be conferences and sporting events for over two weeks. In Poland, inflatable wind turbines eight metres high will be placed in front of government offices around the country. In Estonia, a ‘wind turbines in the future’ design contest will award the winner the chance to drive a Toyota Prius for one month. In Argentina, Sweden and the Netherlands there will be photo competitions.
