Metro Centre Announces Summer Events Schedule Loaded with Fun
Free Outdoor Movie Series “Movies Under the Stars” Returns with More Family Films; Peoria Farmers Market Features Fresh New Local Producers
Peoria, IL, May 18, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Metro Centre’s reputation as a neighborhood hub of activity will shine again in the summer of 2010. The locally owned and operated outdoor shopping center has just unveiled its hottest attractions of the summer - including everything from farm fresh produce to free family films under the stars.
On Friday, June 4, Metro Centre will once again convert a section of its parking lot into an outdoor cinema with the continuation of its blockbuster “Movies Under the Stars” free outdoor film series. Last summer, the chance to see the silver screen in the great outdoors was a smash hit. The first featured film in 2010 is Charlotte’s Web starring Dakota Fanning, Julia Roberts and Oprah Winfrey. Perfect for the entire family, show time is 7:45 p.m.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets to place in front of the big screen. There will be fresh popped popcorn and soft drinks available for $1 while supplies last. Concession proceeds benefit local schools and charities. Come early to explore Metro Centre’s many shops and restaurants as well as activities for the kids before the show.
The Peoria Farmer’s Market at Metro Centre is back. The gala of greens is now open daily at 8 a.m., Monday through Saturday, offering the largest selection of no-spray and organic produce in the area. Several new vendors have been added to the market this season featuring home grown vegetables and fresh fruits. The Heart of Illinois Harvest, a local food rescue program will be distributing free, earth-friendly tote bags (while supplies last with a $2 suggested donation) on Saturday June 5, the official market kick-off date.
