EduKick Football Academy Team Wins International Soccer Tournament
EduKick Madrid International Football Academy players won the 2010 Alcala de Henares Cup in Madrid.
Madrid, Spain, May 20, 2010 --(PR.com)-- EduKick international football academy players took top honors in the 2010 Alcala de Henares Cup. Student athletes from football academies in England, France, Canada, and Madrid competed, with EduKick Madrid winning the tournament.
"The players really demonstrated the qualities we teach them, especially in the final game," said Ignacio Mallo Sainz, EduKick Madrid football academy head coordinator. "They were one goal behind for the majority of the game, but they stayed calm and did not hurry, they just continued passing and moving the ball in the same way they were taught in practice.
"In the last 15 minutes, all the dedication and hard work paid off, and it was very nice for them."
EduKick football academies were well-represented with four teams: EduKick Canada affiliate DPSoccer from Canada, EduKick England BWFCISS Football Academy, EduKick France Michel Hidalgo Academy and EduKick Spain Academy headed by the Aragones brothers in Madrid.
"I could see the England boys were really tough," said Mallo. "They gave 100 percent in each game. They didn't make it to the finals, but they were very motivated and concentrated during each game."
Mid-fielder Francisco Vizcaino scored the game-winning goal in the third game for EduKick Madrid football academy, putting the team through to the Alcala de Henares Cup final.
"It's the second year I've played in this tournament," said Vizcaino. "We've been training for this since September, the first day we arrived in Madrid. I told my teammates that we had to come and win it.
"The third game we were down 1-0. I scored a goal and we went to the final. In the final game, we were down 1-0 again in the second half. It looked like we weren't going to win, but Nicolo pulled through for us, and scored two goals at the end.
"It felt real good to win. It was a really good tournament, very exciting. We played football the way we've been taught. Not just physical, but passing, moving, scoring goals."
"It was a great weekend at the Alcala de Henares Cup," said Joey Bilotta, co-founder of EduKick football academies. "We’re exceptionally proud of how all our students played.
"Special thanks go out to the friends and family members who came out to share the experience. And congratulations again to EduKick Madrid!"
