Peninsula Adolescent Counseling Center to Hold Triathlon

Valley Stream, NY, May 23, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Peninsula Counseling Center (PCC), an affiliate of North Shore-LIJ System and one of the largest licensed mental health facilities in Nassau County is sponsoring a Triathlon on Sunday, June 6, at Hewlett High School, 60 Everit Avenue in Hewlett. The swim start time is 6:30 a.m. with the Bike portion at 8:00 a.m. and Run/Walk at 9:00 a.m. This challenging Swim/Bike/Run-Walk Triathlon will be the nonprofit group’s second annual event to benefit the Adam Cohen and Jonah Richman Adolescent Center of Peninsula Counseling. The event is named in honor of the two young men who gave their lives in an extraordinary effort to help save a friend’s life.

The PCC is encouraging new and experienced multi-sport endurance enthusiasts to participate in the 2010 triathlon by waiving the registration fee. Last year over 300 people entered, many were students, and there was tremendous community support. The fundraising goal for each tri-athlete this year has been set at an attainable goal of $50 for individuals, $100 for families. For information and signup/sponsorship form, please visit www.peninsulacounseling.org today and scroll down to the “Register Now” button.

Rain or shine, June 6th will be a day of competition and personal bests. The event will start when participants swim the 500 yard 20 lap swim portion (options for swimmers). The bike segment is a 4 mile ride from the high school to the Woodmere docks and back, but most will complete that loop twice for an 8 mile ride. The run/walk is 2 miles into Hewlett Bay Park and back to the high school. Refreshments will be served at the high school. For additional information about participating or sponsoring this event call Audrey Goodman (516)569-6600.
