Kim Young Geun Expresses Colorful Styles in Elements of Abstraction at Agora Gallery
Agora Gallery Presents Elements of Abstraction
Chelsea, NY, June 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature South Korean artist, Kim Young Geun, in Elements of Abstraction. The exhibition is scheduled to run from June 04, 2010 through June 25, 2010 (opening reception: Thursday, June 10, 2010).
Artist Kim Young Geun employs a highly abstracted style through which he expresses his global philosophy. His bright primary colors glow from the canvas surface, waves of organic lines undulating through the paintings, forming heavily stylized twisted nubile figures and objects. For Kim Young Geun existence is experiential, which connects in turn to the realm of the erotic. The eroticism Kim Young Geun paints is not overt or directly explicit as it is transformed through his emotional and creative investment in the images, allowing them to develop naturally in order to preserve the integrity of the works. The result is that his works become accessible, their message easily absorbed and able to comfort and familiarize the viewer with the ideas presented. In this way, Kim Young Geun’s truths act as the comforter of the human condition.
Kim Young Geun currently lives and works in his hometown, Jeun-Joo, South Korea, but has established himself over 40 years as a fine artist in the capital, Seoul.
Exhibition Dates: June 04, 2010 – June 25, 2010
Reception: Thursday, June 10, 2010, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Gallery Location: 530 West 25th St, New York City
Gallery Hours: Tues – Sat, 11a.m. - 6 p.m.

Elements of Abstraction presents audiences with a rich kaleidoscope of color, form, and texture that in conjunction breathes life into abstract artworks. Whether employing shimmering brushstrokes or bold fields of color, nonrepresentational art, with its lack of familiar forms, allows the work to speak to us on an especially elemental level. Through their deeply personal forms of expression, these artists offer a stunning glimpse into contemporary abstract painting.
Featured Artists:
Thierry Fazian, Kim Young Geun, Naveed Hakim, Monika Mori, Rio, Xan Salas, Jennifer Vitalia
