Grand Opening Event WildTech and YMCA collaboration: a New High Tech Company Run by Low-Income Community Members

Silver Spring, MD, May 26, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Announcing WildTech and YMCA collaboration, The World’s First High Technology Company coordinated from the YMCA Youth & Family Services CAQT community Center.

WTA is a new non-profit organization that provides technology skills and work-based learning experiences for low-income residents of Montgomery County. It will provide essential technology products and services to government agencies and non-profit organizations in Montgomery County at far below market rates. Initial enterprise activities include electronics recycling, computer refurbishing and Microsoft application training. The low-income community members are also trained in technology management, marketing, and communications skill, then gain work-based learning experience and an income by practicing these skills in a real technology company that they manage and operate. The announcement takes place on May 27th from 7pm to 9pm.

When: The entire opening event takes place on May 27th, from 7pm until 9pm. Speeches will take place from 7:30pm to 9pm.

Who: The line-up of speakers includes:
- Leaders from Wilderness Technology Alliance and YMCA
- Councilman Leventhal expected to deliver the keynote address at 8pm.

Where: The Carroll Avenue Quebec Terrace (CAQT-YMCA) at 8733 Carroll Avenue, Apt. 4 in Silver Spring.

How: Media should arrive any time after 7pm. There will be many opportunities for interviews:
- City and political leaders: Discuss how local non-profit organizations and government agencies can support WildTech and YMCA collaboration by engaging the low-income residents to do their technology work. This includes electronics recycling, refurbished computers, training services & more.
