CIO Government Summit Kicks Off with a Keynote Speech by Chad Kirkpatrick, CIO, State of Arizona
Honolulu, HI, May 26, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The CIO Government Summit kicked off successfully yesterday with an opening keynote speech given by Chad Kirkpatrick, CIO, State of Arizona. Kirkpatrick addressed an audience of state and local CIOs and technology executives on the lawn of the InterContinental Montelucia Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. His speech outlined how to stretch technology budgets when states face budget deficits.
According to Kirkpatrick, “It is up to us in government technology to partner with the rest of government to prove the need and value in what we do, and that we are doing it in the most cost-effective manner. We have a genuine opportunity to be innovative and to implement solutions that improve citizen services and lower costs.”
The CIO Government Summit is an exclusive opportunity for select public sector CIOs and technology executives to attend educational sessions, network with their peers, and exchange valuable business ideas. The strategic agenda is designed by IT end-users to ensure that all attendees take valuable ideas away from the summit and maximize their time out of the office. The agenda for day two of the CIO Government Summit includes presentations and case studies on a variety of topics, including green IT, the National Broadband Plan, how CIOs should use social media, cloud computing for the public sector and more.
The day’s final agenda session is a much-anticipated presentation by Chuck Prow, Managing Partner, Public Sector, IBM Global Business Services, entitled, “Building a Smarter Planet and Smarter Government with Cloud and Analytics." Prow will be addressing the large-scale factors that are driving change in the public sector and how technology can be used to speed decision making by creating a government that is more transparent as well as making it easier to transmit and access data.
“Under the Obama administration, the federal government is working to become more transparent and is encouraging state and local government agencies to do the same. Technology will play a huge roll in this and Prow’s presentation, therefore, couldn’t be more relevant or more timely to the event’s attendees,” said Mark Southam, Event Director, CIO Government Summit.
