Stevens Hosts the 8th International Conference on Business Process Management
The internationally acclaimed BPM conference appears in the U.S. for the first time September 13-16, 2010. Stevens Institute of Technology welcomes leaders from both industry and academia to discuss Business Process Management innovations.
Hoboken, NJ, May 27, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Center for Business Process Innovation, led by Dr. Michael zur Muehlen at Stevens Institute of Technology is hosting the 8th International Conference on Business Process Management (BPM), September 13 - 16, 2010. This prestigious conference is being held in North America for the first time and is just the second time it will be held outside of Europe. Located minutes away from New York City, Stevens campus in Hoboken, N.J. provides an ideal backdrop for this global event.

BPM brings together researchers and practitioners focused on process analysis and design, workflow implementation, process mining, process innovation and other related topics. The conference attracts innovative research of the highest quality related to all aspects of business process management.
In addition to the main research track, BPM 2010 will include an industrial and an educational track, tutorials, panels, and demo sessions. The conference received a record number of submissions this year, which were subjected to a highly selective review process. Papers report on innovative implementations and applications of Business Process Management with a particular focus on their impact on information technology use and business practice.
Three keynote addresses by industry and academic experts will set the tone for BPM 2010.
Phil Gilbert, President, Lombardi Software. In addition to his role as President, Mr. Gilbert also oversees the operational responsibility of Lombardi's Global Business Solutions group. He was formerly Lombardi's executive vice president of products and CTO. He brings more than 20 years of experience in technology start-ups plus 6 years in consulting and executive positions for non-technology businesses. Phil has been awarded four patents in the area of distributed transaction management, has served on numerous industry committees and panels, and was a founding Board member of RosettaNet, serving until 2001.
Clay Richardson, Senior Analyst, Forrester Research, is responsible for BPM platforms, strategies and governance. He joined Forrester with many years of experience in business process improvement projects, BPM platforms and solutions selection, systems analysis and design, and project management for enterprise software implementations. Clay has led projects to successfully deploy BPM solutions for government and commercial organizations around the world and has specialized in helping create BPM Centers of Excellence.
Hans-Arno Jacobsen, University of Toronto, holds the Bell University Laboratories Chair in Software, and is a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto, where he leads the Middleware Systems Research Group. His principal areas of research include the design and the development of middleware systems, distributed systems, and information systems.
New this year to the BPM conference series will be intimate "Fireside Chats" with world-class BPM experts. These talks offer an unprecedented opportunity to speak with major players in the BPM field and gain key insights as to their techniques. Keith D. Swenson, VP Research & Development, Fujitsu America Inc., will discuss "Thoughts on Collaborative Planning." Robert M. Shapiro, President, Process Analytica, will focus on "Business Process Optimization - Past, Present, and Future."
Focused tutorials provide attendees with the opportunity to complement the presentation sessions of the conference. In one of the tutorials this year, Paul Harmon, editor of the popular Business Process Trends newsletter will provide his insights in a session on "Diagnosing Business Performance Problems."
