NSCS Members Receive 2010 GEICO Achievement Award
Washington, DC, May 28, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Three members of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) have been awarded a $1,000 scholarship through longtime partner GEICO.
Alexandra Law of The University of Nebraska, Jerri-Ann Berry of The University of Florida and Kerry Magro of Seton Hall University, have each received the 2010 GEICO Achievement Award.
Criteria for selection include academics, leadership, and participation in school and community activities. The award is open to sophomore and junior NSCS members majoring in business, math, computer science or other related fields.
Judges for the contest included eight GEICO employees in the fields of recruiting, leadership development, product management and underwriting research.
Law is majoring in economics with a minor in psychology and marketing, Berry is majoring in business management with a minor in geography and Magro is majoring in business with minors in sports management and accounting.
Stephen E. Loflin, Executive Director and Founder of NSCS said the award is a wonderful opportunity to recognize the Society’s engaged members. “Our three recipients have proven to be dedicated not only to academic excellence, but to the betterment of themselves and their campuses and communities through service and leadership.”
For more than 20 years, GEICO has offered $1,000 Achievement Awards to outstanding college sophomores and juniors. GEICO National College Recruiter Jill Stover was especially impressed with the essay applications this year.
“We received so many outstanding applications from NSCS members,” said Stover. “The 2010 NSCS recipients, Alexandra Law, Jerri-Ann Berry and Kerry Magro, epitomize what the Achievement Awards stand for and we are proud to recognize them.”
