The Victory Center for Autism in Miami, Fl, Raises Significant Funds During Their "10th Year Anniversary Gala" Even Under This Year's Poor Economy
Recently, The Victory Center for Autism & Behavioral Challenges along with Christine Lee’s Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida, held its 10th Year Anniversary Gala. The theme for this year’s event was The Victory Center reaching its “10th year milestone.”
Miami, FL, May 26, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Approximately 260 guests attended and enjoyed an evening of cocktails, fine dining, live entertainment, and a silent auction showcasing a wide array of exciting items. One of the main Auction items was a 12-day Asia cruise sponsored by The Yachts of Seabourn, with the final bid winner being Mr. Robert Schwartz, from Wells Fargo Advisors. All gala prizes were donated by community businesses, artists, groups or individuals, and funds are raised through bids at silent or live auctions.
Each year, The Victory Center presents its premier fundraising event– Starry Night Gala. A highlight among South Florida’s social events, this night is a one-of-a-kind and truly a first-class event raising funds to support The Victory Center for Autism and Behavioral Challenges. The mission of The Victory Center, a Florida non-sectarian, non–for-profit Corporation, is to provide children with Autism and similar disorders comprehensive individualized ABA therapy. The students receive one-to-one/ two-to-one student- teacher ratio therapy within a classroom setting.
A highlight of the evening was a speech given by The Victory Center’s Educational Director Dr. Anja Kroell, who recently joined the organization. Dr. Kroell states, “The Victory Center is a truly unique and wonderful setting. I am honored to be part of The Victory Center as the Educational Director. With such display of support I saw that special night for our school from the community, I know the visions I have today will become a reality tomorrow. It is my goal to further expand the already solid services being offered by first and foremost creating a Speech and OT program within the next few months. Also, with your continued support, it is our goal to hopefully develop an Adult Day program in the upcoming year to address this pressing need for services within our community.”
This year’s honorees were Mrs. Annie Isabella, Mrs. Cindy Fraga, and Mrs. Jocelyn Rodriguez for their continual work within the Autism community. Marking their 10th year, The Victory Center as well honored all of our past honorees for their help and support throughout the years. The event was emceed by Miami’s most well-known attorney and prominent leader Mr. Howard Finkelstein. Mr. Finkelstein is most notably known from “Help Me Howard” legal advice segment on WSVN-Ch. 7, as well for his work within the South Florida community.
Executive Director Thalya G. Olmos said it pays to be on the self-sufficient side in light of the current economy.
"We are a viable entity because of the amazing levels of community support for and awareness of what we do within the autism community," Olmos said. "And those who do not know who we are usually very surprised at the scope of our educational programs and services. The first question someone asks is, 'What do you do at TVC?' The second question is 'How can I get involved and what can I do to help? “Our credibility in the services we provide is a major reason why so many have chosen to support us. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the most comprehensive and most effective approach to improving the lives of persons with autism and their families.”
Ms. Olmos is quick to give credit to her volunteer team for the success of the gala.
"We had quite an enthusiastic crew this year," she said. "Judith Nelson, co-founder of The Victory Center and Rhonda Hill, Gala Committee Chairman, coordinated and assisted in the overall implementation of the Gala. Without the help of our donors and volunteers, the success of this event could not have happened.”
All money raised through fundraising events like the gala is put back into necessary programs and services provided by The Victory Center.
The Scholarship Star Sponsor of the evening was Crystal Associates while the Galaxy Level Sponsor of the evening was Lifespring Financial.
