Employment Screening Provider USA-FACT to Host Complimentary 2-Part Human Resources Webinar Series
USA-FACT’s Webinar Series will focus on the Use of Credit Reports and Criminal Records in Hiring.
Riverside, CA, May 29, 2010 --(PR.com)-- USA-FACT, an industry leading employment screening company, announced a two part complimentary webinar series focusing on Disparate Impact Discrimination Claims. Vincent Pascarella a licensed attorney and certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) will be presenting.
"Employers are facing the perfect storm of the federal EEOC Title VII E-RACE and Systemic Discrimination Enforcement Initiatives, increased attention by plaintiff’s counsel on employer’s employment screening practices, and recent state and federal legislative focus on the use of credit reports in hiring. This free webinar is an opportunity for employers to earn HRCI continuing education recertification credit while learning how to best protect their organizations from the storm," said Pascarella.
The first of the series, “The Use of Credit Reports in Hiring,” is scheduled for June 3, 2010 at 10 am PDT and will discuss how the use of credit reports in hiring is scrutinized by plaintiff’s attorneys and governmental regulators, such as the federal EEOC and how several states have already passed legislation restricting their use of credit reports in hiring. Attendees will learn more about these existing laws, some of the proposed laws, and employers’ obligations when using credit reports in hiring. Part one of the webinar series has been approved by the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) for recertification credits.
The second of the series, “The use of Criminal Conviction Records in Hiring,” is scheduled for June 22, 2010 at 10 am PDT and will discuss how the EEOC has recently stepped up its disparate impact discrimination enforcement efforts against employers who use criminal records in hiring improperly. Attendees will learn more about the recent lawsuits, where the EEOC may be heading and employers’ legal obligations when using these reports in hiring. Part two of the webinar series has been submitted to the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) for recertification credits and is currently pending approval.
