Elephant Parade London Gets an Android App
London, United Kingdom, May 29, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Working with the London Elephant Parade team, mobile phone application developers LongTap have created an Android application that uses Google maps to display where all the 250+ elephants are located around London. The elephants have been in London since May and are set to leave in July, and are all painted by different artists or celebrities providing London with a colourful array of life sized baby ellies. It is London's largest outdoor event on record and the organisers hope to raise 2 million pounds Sterling for the endangered Asian elephant and 20 UK conservation charities.
The app, which was developed for free in support of the project, can be found in the Marketplace by searching for "Elephant Parade." The map can either be used as a zoomable, movable map without any location service turned on or it can find the nearest elephant based on current location. The elephant number, artist and sponsor information are all displayed, with easy swipe navigation through the list.
