Jacksonville Jaguar Maurice Jones-Drew Announces 3rd Annual Free Football Camp for Kids
Jacksonville, FL, June 02, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Maurice Jones-Drew, famed Jacksonville Jaguars Running Back, announced Saturday, June 19th as the date for his 2010 free youth football camp. The camp will take place at Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville, FL.
Jones-Drew will lead the camp, and will be joined by other highly qualified, experienced NFL athletes, college players and high school coaches. They will teach fundamental football techniques as well as mentor to the campers about the importance of getting an education, rejecting negative attitudes and, avoiding drugs and alcohol as their key to success.
“My aim is to promote self esteem through positive experiences like the football camp. I feel opportunities such as this can offer kids a chance to hear directly from their NFL heroes, that although they came from similar surroundings, hard work and determination helped them to succeed.” Jones added "If my youth outreach can turn one kid around, my mission is accomplished."
The football camp is free for the first 300 kids ages 7-16. Campers will need to pre-register online starting June 2nd at www.mauricedrew.com. The camp will provide breakfast, lunch, and drinks, but campers will need to provide their own transportation. Campers will also receive gift bags and player’s autographs.
Maurice’s passion and dedication on the field is rivaled only by his off-the-field civic endeavors through his Maurice Jones Drew Foundation. His commitment to improving the lives of children is awe-inspiring. The foundation routinely visits children’s hospitals, elementary schools, high school football practices, and homeless shelters in both Jacksonville and his hometown, the Bay Area.
The camp’s location has some special significance to Jones-Drew. In 2009, The Maurice Jones-Drew Foundation donated cleats and uniforms to Andrew Jackson High School. Additionally, Quinn Darby, former QB for the Jacksonville Jaguars, is the current head coach at AJHS.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available, for more information contact Profiles Public Relations at (770) 222-2229. For additional information, please contact camp coordinator Katrina Leonce at profilesgroup@yahoo.com.
