Downtown Raleigh Alliance Announces Winner Of Sidewalk Sweeper Naming Contest
Nancy Hormann, President and CEO of Downtown Raleigh Alliance (DRA), a non-profit organization dedicated to improving Downtown Raleigh, has announced the Sidewalk Sweeper Naming Contest’s winning name: “Curby.”
Raleigh, NC, August 11, 2005 --(PR.com)-- Nancy Hormann, President and CEO of Downtown Raleigh Alliance (DRA), a non-profit organization dedicated to improving Downtown Raleigh, has announced the Sidewalk Sweeper Naming Contest’s winning name: “Curby.” The name was submitted by Hartley Bream, a local resident, who received a $100 gift certificate to the Duck and Dumpling restaurant. The winning moniker will be stenciled onto the sweeper, which was purchased as an enhancement to the DRA’s Downtown Ambassador program—a program devoted to making Downtown Raleigh cleaner and safer. DRA announced the contest in their second quarter newsletter in an effort to raise awareness of their newly acquired sidewalk sweeper, a machine that removes residual debris from the pedestrian areas of downtown.
“We congratulate Hartley Bream for his winning submission,” said Hormann. “The introduction of ‘Curby’ to our Downtown Ambassador program is our latest step toward making Raleigh a cleaner and safer place for all of our residents to enjoy, and we look forward to making constant improvements as our city continues to grow and evolve.”
