Maersk Chengdu Expands Sharply in Chengdu Tianfu Software Park

Chengdu, China, June 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Maersk, the world's top logistics company, announced that its biggest global shared service center located in Chengdu Tianfu Software Park had owned 1100 employees already when the newly established location was officially launched on March 24, 2010, 5 months after signing an investment agreement with Chengdu HI-Tech Zone. “Our employees are expanding sharply, the total employees will exceed 2000 this year,” Shaowei, senior director, Maersk global shared service center China said.

Maersk Group combined its two companies in Chengdu Tianfu Software Park, Maersk global shared service center and Damco customer service center. “The Shared service center was originally planned for 400 employees, while now 100 newcomers arrive each month, the center will reach 1200 people in the end of this year,” Shaowei said.

During the financial crisis, in order to further reduce operational cost, Maersk closed the Guangzhou center and looked for another city to relocate.
