Reading Horizons v5 Library Helps Struggling Readers “Bridge the Gap” in Reading Comprehension

The Library on the New Reading Horizons v5 Reading Program Presents 225 Reading Passages in 15 Different Genres to Help Students Improve Reading Comprehension Skills.

Salt Lake City, UT, June 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- In Reading Horizons latest product release, Reading Horizons v5, the program introduced a new element: the Reading Horizons Library. Reading Horizons added the library to increase the effectiveness of the program by providing passages to reinforce the concepts and skills taught.

In response to teacher feedback Reading Horizons has added a library of passages to its new Reading Horizons v5 software. In the past Reading Horizons has focused strictly on teaching word decoding skills but in order to cater to teachers needs the new software provides a library of passages to help students transfer decoding skills into building fluency and comprehension in reading. This new feature makes Reading Horizons more of a comprehensive program for reading instruction.

Reading Horizons v5 software provides a library of 225 reading passages in 15 different genres ranging from sports to technology. These passages are timed and assigned comprehension questions to test understanding. Upon completion of the passages students are given a composite fluency score which is calculated based on speed and accuracy. Each reading passage has been professionally assessed to determine the grade level and Lexile® score.

Upon reviewing the library, Mike Feeney the Clearfield Job Corp Coordinator, expressed: “The Library you've added is fantastic. This is just the component we have needed to bridge the gap.”
