SANlogics’ flexibility and performance enables a client migration record of 257 hosts with 104 TB of storage spanning six data centers in two weekend migration windows.

Challenge: Market volatility led to the cancellation of a migration event and with a hard time line to exit two existing data centers, this SANpulse customer more than doubled the host counts for the next two migration events.

Migration Details:
Leading up to Weekend #1: Due to business circumstances the Client initiated a Worldwide Change Freeze the day before the scheduled move of 42 hosts. Data could not be migrated as planned. SANlogics was able to accommodate this last minute change and automatically generate audits and new work files for the following weekend to move the data targeted for both weekend #1 and for weekend #2.
Through Weekend #2: Before weekend #2, the Client changed the business requirement from Open Replicator and Host-based migration to all Cold Pull Open Replicator. SANlogics software once again automatically adjusted to this business requirement change in the move method 48 hours prior to the migration event. Despite last minute changes in requirements and the rollover of all hosts that weren’t initiated in weekend #1, SANpulse executed flawlessly. 123 hosts and 48 TBs of data were migrated in a single weekend window.
Weekend #3: Due to the pressing need to consolidate the data centers to avoid financial penalties, weekend #3 exceeded the activity of weekend #2 and the team seamlessly migrated and consolidated 134 hosts and 56 TBs of data to V-Max.
