Ocean Athlete Launches Lifestyle Apparel and Accessories Collection

Gloucester, NC, June 09, 2010 --(PR.com)-- North Carolina-based Ocean Athlete® makes its online retail debut today with the launch of www.TeamOA.com, featuring apparel and accessories designed for coastal sporting lifestyles, including sailing, surfing, scuba diving, fishing and other ocean sports.

Ocean Athlete is actively involved in the ocean sports lifestyle in North Carolina and beyond. The brand recently formed a partnership with scuba diving legend John Chatterton, the popular host of the History Channel's hit series Deep Sea Detectives and one of the world's preeminent shipwreck divers.

Ocean Athlete is based in the Morehead City, N.C. area, a mecca for saltwater sportsmen and one of the top shipwreck diving locations in North America. In addition to offering premium sportswear and performance apparel, the brand’s web site will offer exclusive content for ocean sports enthusiasts.

Willis says the mission for the Ocean Athlete brand is to enhance and celebrate the enjoyment of ocean sports while contributing to meaningful environmental and social initiatives, such as Soldiers Undertaking Disabled Scuba (SUDS), the program for injured and disabled veterans returning from combat duty.

“Ocean Athlete is a unique brand that resonates with anyone who loves being in or on the water,” said Willis. “Being able to give back in some way makes it that much more rewarding to introduce our products to men and women everywhere who share our passion for the coastal lifestyle.”

Willis created Ocean Athlete in 1990 and turned it into a successful regional sportswear label. He later sold the brand to an apparel group whose plans to expand the franchise never materialized. Willis bought his label back and has updated Ocean Athlete with an all-new web site, brand identity and product line.
