SRI Hermetics, Inc. Introduces Hermetic Laser Weldable 38999 Series III Connectors

Melbourne, FL, June 10, 2010 --(PR.com)-- SRI Hermetics launches their new line of aluminum hermetic circular connectors with the interface conforming to MIL-DTL-38999/25. This traditional configuration has the weld flange located at the midsection of the connector. The weld flange is a 4000 series aluminum so it is easily welded to aluminum housings made of 6061 aluminum. With the combination of BeCu contacts and their proprietary ceramic, Ceramax, these are the most reliable connectors available. Each contact is individually sealed with their ceramic. Unlike standard glass seals, Ceramax will not propagate cracks. These connectors are certified to have a leak rate less than or equal to 2X10 -10 cc/sec He at one atmosphere differential pressure. Standard shell finish is nickel plated, but any finish can be offered. Internal pins can be configured to accept straight pins, solder cups (up to 20 AWG wire), or stepped pins for easy flex attachment. Style of connectors that are offered are single-sided , double-ended, and jam nut mounted. The connectors are rated to 200C, but the limiting factor is the fluorosilicone rubber interfacial and static seals, not the ceramic seal.

These connectors were designed with the aerospace and defense markets in mind. Replacing traditionally steel connectors with aluminum make them ideal for flight without sacrificing any of the reliability.
