Qantas, Australia’s national carrier and one of the world’s leading airlines, has implemented IBS’ Cargo Management Solution in its international air freight division, Qantas Freight.
Trivandrum, India, June 12, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The solution will manage the international freight movements of the carrier
Qantas, Australia’s national carrier and one of the world’s leading airlines, has implemented IBS’ Cargo Management Solution in its international air freight division, Qantas Freight. Through this deployment, the airline has successfully migrated its global cargo sales, reservations and capacity management functions to IBS’ iCargo platform. iCargo, a new generation end-to-end logistics solution, replaced a legacy system at the end May with a cut over involving cargo operations in thirteen countries.
The migration to iCargo is a key milestone for Qantas in its multi-million dollar Freight Futures business transformation program, aimed at differentiating itself from other cargo carriers by delivering improved services to its customers. iCargo will be completely integrated across the Qantas Freight network when the terminal operation system is also cut over and will manage the entire freight movements of the carrier.
“To have a project of this size and complexity completed on time, within budget and with no interruption to our operations is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our business experts and IBS. While this was one of those rare cutovers where everything went right we still have plenty of work to do with the scheduled migration to iCargo of our terminal operations planned for 2011,” said Mr Stephen Cleary, Executive Manager Qantas Freight.
iCargo is designed to meet the requirements of full freighter carriers, passenger & cargo combination carriers, ground handling agents and customs authorities. The product has an architecture that is modular and can be tailored according to the scope and scale of the customer’s need. The fully web-based solution is built from the ground up on a new generation technology platform and is compliant with industry initiatives such as Cargo 2000 and e-Freight. Twenty one customers have signed up for iCargo since its launch 4 years ago.
“Having partnered with us during the building of the solution, Qantas’ choice of iCargo for Freight Futures - its business transformation program - is an endorsement of our joint vision to create the most definitive Cargo Management System for the air transport industry. We are proud of our contribution to the Freight Futures program and to this complex implementation which has been meticulously planned and managed jointly. We expect to bring further business value to Qantas Freight through the implementation of the ground handling and terminal operations modules in the coming year,” said Mr. V K Mathews, Chairman & CEO, IBS Group
