Celebrate Pride Month with Passion River Films’ LGBT Showcase
Local distributor showcases LGBT films in honor of Pride Month
Metuchen, NJ, June 15, 2010 --(PR.com)-- June is a month to celebrate LGBT pride, and Passion River Films is proud to showcase films focusing on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender pride. Participate in and celebrate Pride Month by exploring these inspiring films.
“Call Me Malcolm” – Mariam always thought of herself as a boy, but was perceived by others as a girl. She struggled with trying to convince others that she actually was a boy, but to no avail. This caused her to become estranged from her family, friends, church and even herself. Eventually, she ends up at a seminary trying to end the conflict between her heart and what she has been taught to believe. This is when Mariam learns the word “Transgender” and begins to learn how to go through gender transition. Mariam then becomes Malcolm. Malcolm then travels across the country sharing his story and letting others know that they, too, can be accepted as a Transgender.
“We’re all Angels” – This film follows two gay male singers who have dealt with conflict all their lives. Being both gay and Christian – they are constantly struggling to accept their own homosexuality and the subsequent reactions from those around them – all while trying to pursue a Christian music career. The film follows the two men on their journey to achieve a successful music career while instilling hope and acceptance into young gay Christian teenagers by acting as role models.
“Fatherhood Dreams” – This film invites the viewer into the lives of four gay men – Scott, Steve, Randy and Drew who have become fathers through adoption, co-parenting and surrogacy. Follow these men as they deal with the larger issues that affect gay fathers including surrogacy, the difficulty of “open adoption” and the human rights battles concerning the recognition of LGBT and multi-parent families. Not only do we hear from the gay parents, but we hear from their happy and sometimes outspoken children as well.
“The Pursuit of Equality” – This emotionally charged film puts a face on American citizens who strive for marriage equality. This film includes footage of the nation’s first same-sex couple marriage. This film focuses on the compelling, human rights struggles surrounding same-sex marriage and captures the elation and despair of couples and families who are fighting for equal rights.
These inspiring films shed light on some of the struggles that people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender go through every day, as well as provide hope for future tolerance and acceptance. Support Pride Month by exploring these films from Passion River that are all now available to rent on Netflix.
