Island Apps Announces the Release of Garden Buddy Version 2.0 and Garden Buddy Metric Version
Island Apps continues to innovate and expand the functionality of its Garden Buddy product line with the release of version 2.0 and the metric version. Both new Garden Buddy editions feature a more elegant user interface, and have significant upgrades in application functionality.
Paranaque City, Philippines, June 12, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Island Apps announces the release of Garden Buddy version 2.0, and Garden Buddy metric version, with both products available on the i Tunes App Store. These applications are compatible with all Apple platforms including: iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.
Island Apps continues to innovate and expand the functionality of its Garden Buddy product line with the release of version 2.0 and the metric version. Both new Garden Buddy editions feature a more elegant user interface, and have significant upgrades in application functionality. These new applications utilize the native GPS location services on the iphone, to allow users to locate many different categories of garden related supplies, garden and landscape service providers, and garden and park attractions near them. The location results are dynamic content, and represent resources available in a 50 mile (80 Km) radius of the user’s location. Users receive full details from their category inquiry including: Business name, full address, contact information, distance away. With the click of different buttons in the app, users can: directly call the business, add the business to their contacts (with full detail), display a map with user and business locations clearly marked (with highlighted route), and call up a list of turn by turn driving instructions. These location context based features work worldwide and in real time. Apple platforms without GPS location sensing (iPad, and iPod Touch) can still use this functionality by entering the user postal codes, to identify user location.
This new functionality allows users to discover new places to visit such as community gardens and parks, as well as locate new service providers, and interesting places nearby to shop for gardening related items. The features work in all developed countries around the world. The new Garden Buddy releases also include an expanded plant database with more information than the original app version.
Matthew Trachtenberg founder and CEO of Island Apps had this to say:
“Garden Buddy version 2.0 and Garden Buddy metric version represent the new breed of location context aware applications that Island Apps is focused on building. This major release also demonstrates Island Apps capability to serve the global market with location and contextually relevant mobile Apps. We anticipate strong demand for Garden Buddy metric version in the European, and Asia Pacific markets. I am thrilled with the level of functionality in these new products and fully appreciate the hard work of the teams engaged responsible for developing them. Island Apps has identified several hundred niche areas that we are evaluating for our portfolio of mobile Apps. These upcoming apps will incorporate location context aware features, like the new Garden Buddy apps, and they will also incorporate other very interesting proprietary technologies. Information on these new technologies will be made public in the near future. Island Apps continues to build our world class international development teams. We remain focused upon exceeding our customer’s expectations, while driving shareholder value through our low cost business model.”
