Has Led at Least One Lap in All Four NASCAR Starts This Year, Will be Driving #27 Red Man Moist Snuff Baker Curb Racing Ford Fusion in The Meijer 300 at Kentucky Speedway
Altamonte Springs, FL, June 13, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Scott Wimmer, one of NASCAR’s most dynamic racers continues to impress NASCAR fans with his driving prowess in the four NASCAR races he has been in this season. His performance this past weekend at the Federated Auto Parts 300 at the Nashville Superspeedway demonstrated why he is one of the hottest commodities on the circuit today and winning praise from fellow racers, the media, fans, and best of all the sponsors.
G2 Gemini Sport Marketing Executive Vice President Brad Raymond exudes; “The weekend in Nashville far exceeded our expectations. From the moment that we landed until the checkered flag we felt as though we were part of the team. The entire crew at Baker Curb racing made us feel like part of the family and after Scott’s impressive lap times in practice expectations were high! Scott Wimmer and the entire organization is top notch and we can’t say enough about how impressed we were with the team, crew and everyone involved. The exposure that we generated from this event was second to none and we look forward to putting together a long-term relationship with Baker Curb and driver Scott Wimmer.”
Racing the #27 Red Man Moist Snuff Baker Curb Racing Ford Fusion at Nashville, he finished the final practice atop the leaderboard with a speed of 157.286 mph and started the race at the eighth spot. During the race he ran fourth until lap 118 when he made contact with the wall causing damage to the left side of the car. Despite this, he climbed his way back into contention and finished 21st. Wimmer kept his streak alive at Nashville of leading in at least one lap in all of his NASCAR starts this season. Now this weekend he heads to the Meijer 300 at the Kentucky Speedway, racing again in the #27 Red Man Moist Snuff Baker Curb Racing Ford Fusion where many expect that he will capture his third top 10 finish or his first top five finish of the season.
“This has been an exciting season,” said Wimmer. “The #27 Red Man Moist Snuff Baker Curb Racing Ford Fusion is definitely a top notch car and with Baker Curb team will finish strong this weekend at Kentucky. My focus is to stay centered on this weekend’s race.”
This will mark Wimmer’s third race in the Baker Curb Racing machine. Driving at Talladega, he finished 12th in the 43 car field and led a lap. At the Federated Auto Parts 300, this past weekend, despite the unfortunate contact he had an average running position of 13.9 and his driver rating of 80.8 was 15th best in the #27 G2 Custom Apparel/Red Man Moist Snuff Ford Fusion.
At Kentucky, Wimmer has finished in the top five in four of his past five races and intends to make it a fifth this weekend. He was the runner up there in 2008 and last season after starting at the 30th position he finished strong at 16th. With his strong performances this season, experts and fans alike expect that Wimmer will again have a solid top five performance at the Meijer 300.
This will be Wimmer’s fifth start this season and despite the limited starts, he has finished strong in each race demonstrating why he is considered one of the best drivers in NASCAR. Prior to driving the #27 Red Man Moist Snuff Baker Curb Racing Ford Fusion, he had a two-race deal racing for the JR Motorsports Team in the #7 Chevy Impala that Danica Patrick began the 2010 NASCAR Nationwide Series with. At Talladega, his first race in the #27 Red Man Moist Snuff Baker Curb Racing Ford Fusion, he started 34th in the 43 car field and began a steady climb to the lead. In the final lap he was running Top-5 and pushing his way back to the front with the help of Joey Lagano from behind when Jamie McMurray spun in front of Wimmer, creating a massive pile up. NASCAR officials had to freeze the field and showed Wimmer coming in a strong but disappointing 12th position in the end. The #27 Baker Curb Racing entry goes into the weekend in 8th position in Owner Points, and looking to keep the momentum going to get back into the Top-5 in points. Wimmer is also signed on for this weekend’s race at Kentucky, which will mark the final race that Red Man Moist Snuff will be allowed to support the strong running team. This is leaving the team hard at work to locate another company that is able to take advantage of the strong results and massive media coverage the team and combination of Greg Biffle and Scott Wimmer has been able to garner this season. To date, this has been one of the most visible entities throughout the 2010 NASCAR Nationwide Series season.
